If you have fruit trees, you have at some point had a bird's situation. Birds love fruit too. Birds are also rather smart hunters. All of the most common deterrent for birds, such as reflective tape, pie tins, artificial predator figurines, predator sounds, etc. will work for a while, but the birds get used to one method, so you have to keep changing it up. There is another newer method that some gardeners and orchards are resorting to, however. Many have started using birds netting. Many lawn and garden stores and also nurseries have started selling this product with the promise that birds will not get to your fruit. While it does work about 95% of the time, there is that 5% that is a concern, especially for animal lovers and activists. The netting does keep the birds from your fruit, however, sometimes they can become entangled in the netting. If no one is watching the tree every day, some of these birds may die. Also, the birds netting does let some birds get to the fruit through netting. It does have some drawbacks. Many products will protect your fruit while keeping birds out of it. It’s a common, inexpensive product that can be found in most arts and crafts stores, tulle. Tulle has been around for years and why people don't think of it as birds netting will never be known. It’s much more inexpensive that birds are netting and you can buy enough for one tree for less than what one spends purchasing the netting. Tulle is a netting material, but the netting is extremely fine. It is difficult to put up the netting, and it does come in varying widths and lengths. Once you have this amazing product installed securely in your fruit trees, no more birds problems and your fruit remains your fruit. One thing that many gardeners have started practicing though, is leaving one tree uncovered. This one is just for the birds. After all, if you have several fruit trees, try giving back to nature just a little bit. Tulle is a wonderful answer for bird's problems.
